The Firefly Trail is now Open!  (.3-Mile segment)

We are incredibly pleased to welcome you to visit the Firefly Trail in downtown Athens.  The first .3-mile segment, including a 500' bridge over the North Oconee River and a connection to the North Oconee River Greenway and Dudley Park, is now open.  The remainder of the nearly-1-mi. segment will open later in December.  Check out the video from JaWaVi Films below if you missed our ribbon-cutting ceremony.

ACC TSPLOST PASSES!
$16.7 MILLION for Firefly!

Athens-Clarke County voters (including Wintervillians) overwhelmingly passed the TSPLOST package, 71% to 26%.  This will provide funding for completion of our trail within ACC and Winterville, including an iconic bridge over Trail Creek.

Elsewhere in the South

This great video highlights two examples of rails-to-trails projects in the Southeast. Hear the people involved with the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville, SC and the Virginia Creeper Trail in Damascus, VA tell what these trails have done for their communities.  Sign up for our newsletter so you don't miss updates like this!
