The Firefly Trail is a community-driven rail-trail in progress. When complete, it will stretch about 39 miles between Union Point and Athens, Ga., connecting three counties and seven towns with a wide, paved, off-road path for walking, running, cycling and rolling that celebrates the historic corridor of the Georgia Railroad Athens Branch, the state’s first chartered railroad.
Saturday May 30 – 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Calling for assistance from those who can come to Maxeys on Saturday May 30. We need 10-12 volunteers to assist with the progress. We will practice social distancing by assigning each participant an area to work on. Sections will be divided into crepe myrtle trimming, tree trimming, chipping and brush clearing. Those of the same family can be assigned together, other will be distanced as per the guidelines. Please contact Edward Toledano, FireFly Trail Local Action Committee chair, at [email protected] to register ahead of time and ask any questions. Please do not show up without contacting Mr. Toledano first. We will focus on the Cherry St to Laurel St section for this workday.
We need to find a bucket truck for tree trimming if anyone has knowledge of one!
