Special thanks to everyone who volunteered to assist with the ride. Many of you signed up to assist at the SAG stops in Winterville, Crawford and Maxeys preparing and serving food and drinks to the cyclists; be a SAG driver to help cyclists along the route; help register cyclists the day of the ride; help all day and in many ways at the events which were scheduled in Athens and Union Point; help sell and purchase ducks; and two of you folded hundreds of shirts.
Special thanks to all who have registered to ride. We will be in touch with you all and thank you for your support and enthusiasm.
Special thanks to our sponsors whose support is critical to the success of our events and the future of the trail. You will continue to be thanked in the days and weeks to come.
The success of this trail will be because of all of you who choose to give your time, talents and funds to make it a reality.
Thank you for your patience while we figure out next steps.
Stay safe and healthy,
Firefly Trail, Inc., Board of Directors
Because Athens Clarke County has decided to cancel all events held in the parks for the rest of the month, we will not be able to physically hold the Inaugural Classic City Duck Race as planned. However, we have an option to use the third-party vendor website hosting duck sales to pick a random winner for the event and we will be moving forward with this option. A winner for the race will be chosen at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2020. The winner will then be notified at the email they provided when purchasing the ducks. Duck sales will continue until 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2020.
On behalf of the Classic City Duck Race team at Coldwell Banker Upchurch Realty and our community partners, we appreciate you supporting the Firefly Trail and Oconee Greenway System. We will be back next year for the 2nd Annual Classic City Duck Race and will keep you updated on our progress.
Thanks again for supporting the Firefly and Greenway!!!
